English Version
The Rincones de Araya area is located on the western margin of the Front Range of the Andes Mountain in San Juan province, department of Calingasta. It is part of the north-south belt of world-class copper porphyry deposits, which includes mining projects such as Pachón, Altar-Piuquenes, and Los Azules. It is situated approximately 270 km from the city of San Juan.
This area has been explored by several mining companies, including: Río Tinto S.A. (1994-1996), Argentina Minera S.A. (2006-2018), and by the company Argentina Fortescue S.A.U. (2018-present). To date, detailed geological mapping, surface geochemical sampling, geophysical surveys, and 12 boreholes totaling 5,622.8 meters have been completed.
Rincones de Araya is a Cu-Mo +/- Au porphyry-type system, with an overprinting of a high-sulfidation epithermal system. It is developed in Permian-Triassic volcanic rocks intruded by subvolcanic porphyry bodies of Miocene age. In the 2019-2020 season, three drill holes were completed totaling 2,927 meters
