LA ORTIGA
MINERA DEL CARMEN S.A.
El proyecto minero La Ortiga está ubicada en la alta cordillera sanjuanina, en Cordillera Frontal, departamento de Iglesia, en el distrito minero de Valle del Cura, dentro de la faja metalogénica de El Indio. Esta última, alberga sistemas epitermales ricos en Au-Ag. Se encuentra a unos 360 km de la cuidad de San Juan.
El área fue explorada por Barrick Exploraciones Argentina S. A. (1995-1998), Narrow S. A. (2007-2009) y a partir de 2020, por Minera Del Carmen S. A. Se han realizado mapeos geológicos de detalle y regional, geoquímica de superficie, relevamientos geofísicos aeromagnéticos y aeroradiométricos, y se han realizado en total 7.518 metros de sondajes distribuidos en 30 pozos.
En el proyecto La Ortiga se han identificado manifestaciones epitermales de alta y baja sulfuración y sistemas porfídicos, todos ellos con mineralización de Au, Cu y Ag, alojados en secuencias volcánicas intruidas por cuerpos subvolcánicos Mioceno. El desarrollo del sistema hidrotermal y emplazamiento de los cuerpos de brechas e intrusivos se encuentran controlados por estructuras norte-sur, noroeste, noreste y este-noreste. El área presenta varias zonas de interés, tales como: Morro Escondido, Nido de Águila, Domo Negro, Las Vetas y Cerro Lila.

The Ortiga project is located in the geologic province of Frontal Cordillera,Andean mountainrange, department of Iglesia, San Juan province, approximately 360 km from the city of San Juan. The property is within the Valle del Cura mining district, part of the El Indio metallogenic belt.
The projecthas been explored by Barrick Exploraciones Argentina S.A. (1995-1998), Narrow S.A. (2007-2009), and since 2020 by Minera Del Carmen S.A. Detailed and regional geologic mapping, surface geochemistry, aeromagnetic and aeroradiometric geophysical surveys have been conductedon the area. A total of 7,518 meters have been drilled, distributed across 30 holes.
At the La Ortiga project, both high- and low-sulfidation epithermal manifestations, as well as porphyry systems, have been identified withAu, Cu and Ag mineralization hosted in volcanic sequences intruded by Miocene subvolcanic bodies. The development of the hydrothermal systems and the emplacement of breccia and intrusive bodies are controlled by north-south, northwest, northeast, and east-northeast structures. The area comprises several zones of interest, such as: Morro Escondido, Nido de Águila, Domo Negro, Las Vetas, and Cerro Lila.
